| Details | This paper examines the welfare effect of R&D taxation in a model where the innovation of new products derives economic growth, which in turn pollutes the environment. In the presence of an environmental externality, the R&D taxation remedies overproduction and improves the environment. Taking transitional dynamics into account, we find that there exists a tax rate that maximizes the welfare of a representative consumer. |
